GLOBAL- The Nokia N8 today officially emerges into the daylight, stepping out of the shadows equipped with a host of smartphone talents.
The first device to be powered by the brand new Symbian 3 platform. The Nokia N8 will launch with a new breed of camera that promises to capture photos and video to rival dedicated point and shoot cameras. Read on to explore Nokia N8's full list of talents.

The biggest feature on the Nokia N8 is its 12-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and Xenon flash. It features a substantially larger sensor than any ever used in any other Nokia device - even bigger than many found in dedicated cameras.

Recently, we caught up with Nokia's resident camera guru, Damian Dinning, to get the full lowdown on what went into fine-tuning the N8's camera and video capture skills - you'll be able to read the full fact-packed story right here on Conversations this week, so stay tuned.

The Nokia N8 also doubles as a portable entertainment centre. Watch HD quality video with Dolby Digital Plus surround sound and hook into a dedicated Web TV application for access to news and entertainment on the move.

It's not just its 12-megapixel camera and HD video skills with HDMI support that set the Nokia apart from the crowd. Packing more memory than most, the Nokia N8 has 16GB of built-in storage and is expandable up to 48GB with a micro SD card.

Joining the social messaging fold with the likes of the latest Eseries and Cseries devices, the N8 enters the fray with live Twitter and Facebook updates direct to your homescreen. Comment, read and send messages, update your status and share your location and photos with one touch.

Embracing location based services, the N8 is location-savvy and comes with free global Ovi Maps walk and drive navigation with support in more than 70 countries worldwide.

Powering the Nokia N8 is the all-new Symbian 3 platform. This latest incarnation introduces major new advances including multi-touch and support for gestures such as pinch-to-zoom. Onboard there's also three customisable homescreens that can be loaded with applications and widgets and flicked through by a swish of the finger. There's also improved 2D and 3D graphics for a faster and more responsive UI, greater memory management and a visual task manager.

Of course, the Nokia N8 comes with access to the full range of Ovi services and it's Nokia's first smartphone to be integrated with Qt. Got and idea for an app? Qt is a software development environment that makes it a cinch to build apps and deploy across the Symbian and other software platforms.

Not to be outdone by its innards the Nokia N8 is carved from a single piece of anodised aluminium and looks glorious decked in one of five eye-catching colours (we'll shortly be bringing you entire article dedicated to the colours). It will cost €370 (before the usual local taxes and subsidies) when it starts shipping in the third quarter of 2010.

The HP Mini 5102 is an updated version of the Mini 5101which is one of the best netbooks around. Much like its illustrious predecessor the Mini 5102 is also equipped with a great keyboard and possesses excellent build quality. What is more, it gets around 10+hours of uptime.

The HP Mini 5102 is aimed at small and medium businesses. It is a bit pricier than typical netbooks, but offers value for your money.

The HP Mini 5102 and Mini 5101 have almost identical looks. But the netbooks are different in some aspects. The HP Mini 5102 is powered by Intel Atom N450 processor. The previous model has an Atom N280 processor. Other differences include the optional touchscreen and higher capacity batteries offered with the Mini 5102.

Battery Life
The HP Mini 5102 gets excellent battery life. The netbook is shipped with higher capacity batteries. The 4 cell battery will power the laptop for up to 4.5 hours. Need more uptime? Opt for the 6-cell battery pack and you should be able to get around 10 hours of runtime.

Design and Build quality
The HP Mini 5102 possesses excellent build quality. The netbook weighs around 2.6 pounds with the 6-cell battery. It is available in blue, black and red colors.

Display
The display is good. Colors are briit and vivid. The Mini 5102 measures around 0.91 inches with the standard display. If you opt for the touch-screen display, you will find the netbook a bit thicker. The capacitive touchscreen recognizes multi-touch gestures such as pinching and zooming.

Keyboard and touchpad
One of the best things about the Mini 5102 is its excellent keyboard. The keyboard is nearly full-sized and verx comfortable to use. The touchpad is the right size for a 10 inch netbook and shows good sensitivity.

Ports and Slots
There are the regular ports and slots. The HP Mini 5102 supports a wide range of connectivity options including Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n, Ethernet, Bluetooth, optional 3G and GPS.

Performance
Performance is excellent. The Mini 5102 can do everything a netbook is supposed to do. HP also offers the option of configuring the netbook with a Broadcom Crystal HD Enhanced Media Accelerator which would enable 1080p HD video playback on Atom powered netbooks. The Broadcom card also enables HD video streaming using Adobe Flash Player 10.1 Beta. Previously only HP's consumer oriented netbooks could be used with the Broadcom card.

Pricing
The HP Mini 5102 starts at $399. If you buy a model with touch-screen display and other optional features you will have to pay more. In fact, a fully decked up machine may cost as high as $1,000.

The verdict
The HP Mini 5102 is undoudtedly one of the best mini-laptops around. But it is only slightly better than its predecessor. Of course, it offers some optional features which can't get with the Mini 5101. But if you are on a tight budget and just want a great laptop to meet your computing needs, you will be better off buying the 5101 which also has low starting price.

Samsung Mythic Review

Samsung Mythic has been named aptly as it could only exist in myths a few years ago. The phone boasts all the latest technologies packaged in a smart bundle. The phone, although of block from factor, is indeed quite a looker. It sports a large screen of 3.3 inch, which is fully touchscreen. It has a host of widgets making online life on the move a breeze. As of now, the phone is available bundled with AT&T network only. Not only does it have internet capabilities, it also serves as a decent mobile TV. At present, AT&T offers Comedy Central, CBS, MTV, ESPN, FOX, NBC and many other channels.

The navigation between apps and website is quick and easy thanks to Samsung's Touch Wiz user interface. It comes preloaded with software apps like AT&T navigator, AT&T Social Net etc. The home screen scrolls left and right to for accessing additional phone application using touch navigation. One of the most important features is that it comes with AT&T's modified Opera browser. It gives you three windows to surf the internet. You can view the World Wide Web in one window; get information about places of interest nearby, maps, traffic alerts, driving directions on the other; and headlines from popular news, sports and entertainment websites on the third.

The Mythic is a good addition to the Samsung's envible lineup of smart phones. The block form factor is targeted towards the people who dislike the clamshell ones. Among technical features, it has a full bag. The screen is TFT with 262K colors. It has an mp3 player and an expandable memory using microSD or TransFlash memory cards. The PC Sync is available with USB 2.0 specifications. The default web browser is Opera 2.0 and also has GPS navigation provided by AT&T Navigator. As with all the mid and high end phones, it has a speaker phone.

The touch screen user interface might need a little getting used to for people habitatuated to using actual keyboards. The touch screen keyboard is the only option for typing on the Mythic as it does not have a real keyboard. But once you get used to it, you start to find it much more convinient to use than the normal keybords. The Samsung Touch Wiz user interface, also seen on some other Samsung phones gives a quick access to your favorite websites such as YouTube and Facebook. If it were not for the Samsung Touch Wiz user interface, the phone could have tuned out to be a drab, but the user interface makes it a really competent phone.

Because of the rich colors, watching web TV is a lot of fun on the Mythic. It can store many video clips, pictures and games due to the expandable memory. This makes the phone very useful not only to business professionals who want to keep abreast of stock updates etc, but also for those who want a smart phone just for entertainment. The Samsung operates on GSM and UMTS networks.
